We believe that God created the heavens and the earth and everything in it. That He created man and woman in His image. That they were created for fellowship with God, that all of their core needs were met perfectly by Him. Needs like: love, significance, identity, worth, and acceptance. We believe that God placed man and woman in the Garden of Eden and gave them a choice between Life (the Tree of Life) and Death (the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil).
The evil one, disguised as a snake, tempted Eve to believe that God had withheld something from her, that she needed to do something in order to become more like God (the very God who formed her in His own image).
The woman chose to believe the evil one. She then offered the fruit to Adam who also ate. In doing so, they both declared independence from the only source of Life. All mankind born afterwards are born "in Adam" and are as spiritually dead as Adam was after declaring independence from Life. The core needs, which can only be filled by God, remain elusive.
Mankind has searched for a source of Life ever since. Mankind mistakes bios (biological life) for Zoe (spiritual life). Without Zoe this world is empty and meaningless no matter how much money, or material things we have.
We believe that Jesus came in the form of a man. Fully human, fully divine. He came to reconcile us to Himself and the Father. Jesus performed perfectly on earth and became the sinless lamb pure enough to take away the sin of the world. Not just cover it as the animal sacrifices did. HE TOOK IT AWAY.
We believe that mankind now has a choice to make. Do we want to continue to "live" in the First Adam or do we choose to enjoy Zoe Life in the Last Adam (Jesus).
If we choose the Last Adam we are born again and we become spiritually alive ... forever. Our salvation is not based upon our performance or behavior. It is based on Jesus. Our righteousness is not based upon our performance or behavior. It is based on Jesus. He became sin, that we may become His righteousness.
Does this mean our behavior is not important? No! Our behavior is very important. It is not however, behavior that determines our identity. Birth determines identity. If you are born again you can no more be unborn again than a horse can choose to be a bird. Our behavior always reveals what we believe. If you believe that you are righteous, pure, holy, then you will behave that way. Not always of course. As long as we live in this body, we will continue to struggle with the same temptation Eve did. That there is something we need to do apart from God. Even though we struggle with those thoughts we can choose to take them captive. If you are in Christ your future is secure. Because of Him and Him alone.
As believers then, what do we do? We love Him. We thank Him. We abide in Him. We trust Him when He says he will never leave us. We choose to live by faith and not sight (because things don't always look good).
As writers we allow Him to express His Love and Life to those around us. We allow His words to flow through us to a hurting world. We write without fear because we know who we are and whose we are.
We are His!
