Katy Pistole was born Katy Thomsen in Alexandria, Virginia. At six weeks of age she moved to Vietnam, to be with her parents who also moved there. Katy learned how to read at the age of three and has never stopped. She spent most of her growing up years in far away places like Botswana and Nigeria and the Marshall Islands.
She earned a Bachelors Degree in English Literature from George Mason University and went on to receive a teaching certification from James Madison University. Katy has taught creative writing for more than 20 years through school, workshops, online courses and more.
Katy is a wife, a homeschooling mom, author, speaker and the director of Beautiful Brokenness Ministries, a teaching and counseling ministry that uses horses as an image of God's love and provision.
